Step by step from large to small

How you become a 3D figure

You can’t just buy a 3D figure like this off the rack – it’s a unique miniature of yourself, your family, or your favorite person. From the initial idea and the 3D scan to the finished mini-version, a lot happens behind the scenes: high-tech, craftsmanship, and a keen eye for detail.

On this page, we’ll show you step by step what to expect from us: how you can prepare, how the scan works, what happens on the computer afterward, and how your finished 3D figure is created from all of this. This way, you’ll know exactly what to expect – and you can simply look forward to the result.

Your Idea & the Occasion

It always starts with your idea: wedding couple, gift for the grandparents, sports team, or simply because you’re celebrating the technology. You consider which pose you’d like to be immortalized in as a 3D figure – casual, sporty, romantic, or in a business look. On our site and in the gallery, you’ll get initial inspiration for what’s possible. This way, you’ll come to us with a clear picture in your head.

Book an appointment

The easiest way to get your 3D figure is to book an appointment directly online – for a consultation or directly for a scan! We’ll be happy to advise you briefly on how the process works and when we can scan you. This way, we avoid waiting times and you know exactly how much time you should plan for.

Your Selection: Size, Material & Figure Type

Before we start the 3D scan, you choose what kind of figure you want. You choose the size, material and – depending on the offer – the color and shape of your figure. On the website, you can find out about the different materials, prices and sizes in advance. In our 3D scan studio, we will be happy to explain the differences to you personally. This way, you’ll know exactly how big your figure will be and how it will feel.

Preparation: Pose, Outfit & Accessories

Now it’s time to get creative: You think about how you want to look as a 3D figure. A special outfit, sportswear, uniform, evening dress – anything is possible as long as you feel comfortable in it. If you like, bring accessories that define you: instrument, sports equipment, helmet, bouquet of flowers or something completely different. We’ll help you on site to find a pose that looks good and is technically easy to print.

The 3D Scan in the Studio or Mobile

In the 3D scan studio in Berlin, our 3D scanner creates a snapshot of you – the scan itself only takes a fraction of a second. For mobile use, we use a hand-held 3D scanner, for which you have to stand as still as possible for a few minutes. During the scan, we capture both your geometry and the photographic data of your surface. The technology works with many individual images – so the method is photo-based and harmless to your health.

Scan Data Becomes a Virtual 3D Model

After the scan, your data is further processed in the computer. A detailed, virtual 3D model of you is created from the point cloud and the photos. Where necessary, small errors are corrected, holes are closed and fine details are cleanly remodeled. In addition, the recorded textures – i.e. colors and surfaces – are placed exactly on your 3D model. The result is a digital mini-version of you, which forms the basis for the subsequent 3D printing.

3D Printing Your Figure

Once the virtual model is ready, the actual 3D printing starts. Depending on the material chosen, a suitable printing process is used; we present the most common methods in detail on the website. Layer by layer, the 3D printer builds up your figure – including all colors, folds in the fabric and fine details. Depending on the size and material, the printing process can take up to several days.

Handcraft: Post-processing & Finishing

After printing, your figure is already fully assembled, but not yet ready for the big stage. Support structures are removed by hand, edges are smoothed and details are reworked. Depending on the material, colors are refreshed, small imperfections are corrected and the figure is sealed or coated. This manual part often takes several hours – but in the end you get a high-quality unique piece instead of a standard product.

Quality Check & Approval

Before your figure comes to you, we check it again very carefully. Is the pose as planned? Are the proportions and colors correct? Are there any areas that are sensitive and need special attention? Only when we are satisfied with everything will your figure be packaged. This is how we ensure that you hold a result in your hands that meets our and your expectations.

Collection in Berlin or Shipping to Your Home

Once your mini-version of you is ready, we will inform you. You can pick up your figure in person at our 3D scan studio in Berlin – many customers combine this with a little trip. Alternatively, we can send your figure well packaged to your desired address. Either way: From now on, you will always have your personal 3D image with you – as a memory, a gift or simply as an extraordinary object in your home.

Storage & Further Figures

Finally, we will give you tips on request on how best to store your figure so that you can enjoy it for a long time (e.g. protection from direct sunlight or risk of falling). And if you like your mini-version, you can of course plan further figures at any time – with other outfits, your loved ones or your pet. Your 3D figure collection can grow with you and your life.
